Atari and Chequered Ink have announced that PONG Quest will release on Nintendo Switch in the coming months.
This “humorous new RPG” has reimagined the arcade classic, challenging you to explore a fantasy world as a brave young paddle who must descend into dungeons based on other classics like Asteroids, Centipede and more.
You will be able to design and personalise your own Paddle avatar with clothing and accessories, and, in “energetic RPG-esque battles,” will use more than 50 unlockable PONG balls that each has their own unique attributes.
There’s also talk of “classic, competitive and online battle modes” beyond the game’s story mode.
“PONG as an RPG is something completely unexpected, but wonderful in execution,” explains Atari COO Jean-Marcel Nicolai.
“We are thrilled to bring PONG Quest to life to honor the classic IP and bring the beloved gameplay to a new generation of players and RPG fans. Atari has a rich portfolio of titles and exploring new ways to breathe new life into those franchises yields exciting results.”
PONG Quest will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Spring 2020, priced at $14.99.
