Currently reworking the game’s original Flash art in a new engine, The Binding of Isaac creator Edmund McMillen has signalled that he hasn’t loss his intent to see the game see a 3DS release.
As part of a broader FAQ about the console remake, Rebirth, McMillen revealed that the game’s title and plot references to the Biblical story of the same name still conflict with Nintendo’s current policies.
“We want to release on 3DS, and will if given the option,” McMillen wrote. “Isaac currently goes against Nintendo’s publishing rules due to its religious aspects. But stuff might change, you never know.”
McMillen had previously submitted a 3DS build to Nintendo, although it was later rejected due to the game’s “questionable religious content.”
