PQube and MindFuel Games have announced that Beyond Words will be released for Nintendo Switch in the coming months.
Pitched as a “genre-defining fusion of roguelike strategy and word-crafting,” this is the latest creation from Steve Ellis and David Doak, who were key developers behind GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark and TimeSplitters.
The game will test your vocabulary, creativity and tactical thinking, challenging you to build powerful word-combos and unlock upgrades on your journey through a living puzzle that is shaped by your decisions.
“In a small dev team, there is the opportunity to experiment and iterate – we truly believe that is the way to ‘find the fun’ and make a great game. Beyond Words is all about choice and agency,” MindFuel Games co-creator Dr David Doak explains. “We’ve made a game that is constantly challenging and evolving with the player’s interactions – full of surprises and opportunities to be clever. As developers, our guiding star has always been to make games that we want to play.”
PQube chief marketing officer Andy Pearson adds: “Working with Steve and David has been an absolute pleasure and the game they have produced is packed with every ounce of their experience, creativity and passion. I have been unable to put it down since we originally laid eyes on it and we cannot wait for you all to experience it.”
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
