Starcolt and Alliance Games have confirmed that Best Friend Forever has been delayed “slightly further” beyond their rescheduled June release date.
The developer promises the delay “shouldn’t be for too long,” and, to make up for it, a PC demo will be released as part of the Steam Games Festival which starts this week.
“What a year 2020 was, and it’s only June! In these unprecedented times, game development (like many other industries) is going through a wave of unknowns in response to COVID, ones which we have been working as hard as we possibly can to deal with and deliver you a game full of Dogs and Dates. The team has been working so diligently despite all these challenges, and has never once stopped giving the game their love and attention – for that, and all the other care they’ve given this project, I’m super proud of them,” studio director Lucy wrote in an update.
“The unfortunate news is that due to circumstances outside our control, we have to delay the release of Best Friend Forever slightly further – this shouldn’t be for too long, but we don’t want to give you a date until we’re certain it’s the final, 100% certain date because we want to give you the game as much as you want to play it! Stay tuned for the new date, which will be announced soon through all our social channels and mailing lists.
“The good news is that to make up for our final delay, we’re releasing a playable demo to tide you over in the meantime! You can still get a taste of Best Friend Forever, meet all the characters, and try it out for yourself. The demo will be released alongside our participation in the Steam Games Festival tomorrow and we’d love for you to download it and give it a go.
“Thanks as always for your support and understanding, and we’re excited to get BFF into your paws as soon as we can train it not to pee inside the house. Our community is one we’ve appreciated ever since we announced BFF, and trust that we’re working hard to deliver you something you’ll enjoy.”
After stepping off the bus at Rainbow Bay, in Best Friend Forever you will have the chance to meet a diverse cast of hot single dog owners in the area.
With the developer combining classic tend and befriend gameplay with an engaging dating-sim narrative, after creating your dating profile you will adopt one of four special puppers.
Once you have made your choice, you’re free to live your best life – bonding with your adopted canine companion as your human love life grows alongside the relationship you share with your fluffy best friend.
Best Friend Forever will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2020.
