The Pokémon Company International has revealed Bellibolt as a new addition to the Paldea region Pokédex in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet on Nintendo Switch.

Category: EleFrog Pokémon
Type: Electric
Height: 1.2 m
Weight: 113.0 kg
Ability: Electromorphosis / Static

Bellibolt expands and contracts its elastic body to generate electricity in an organ that looks like a belly button. The huge amount of electricity generated this way is then discharged from the two bumps on either side of its head that resemble eyeballs.
Its actual eyes are adorably small and round, so when it tries to be intimidating, it puts the eyelike bumps to good use.

It is difficult to train Bellibolt to initiate a battle without it being attacked first.
After the sun sets, you can hear strange noises coming from Bellibolt’s habitat. This noise is not Bellibolt’s cries, but a sound emitting from their stomachs–it is known that this sound signals that they are hungry.

Bellibolt’s Ability, Electromorphosis, is a new Ability appearing for the first time in these titles. Bellibolt becomes charged when hit by an attack, boosting the power of the next Electric-type move it uses.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are promised to “take a new evolutionary step in the Pokémon main series,” with players offered the chance to “explore an open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness.” You will see Pokémon everywhere in this “wide-open world,” whether in the skies, in the sea, or on the streets.

You will start your adventure in the Paldea region, which is described as being “a land of vast open spaces dotted with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, and mountain ranges.” There are lots of people and Pokémon living together in a variety of locations, such as “a farming village with bountiful harvests to a port town with a bustling marketplace.” Pokémon also call treetops, rivers, and other locations in the wilderness their homes.

At the heart of the Paldea region is its largest city, Mesagoza. It is here that you will find either Naranja Academy or Uva Academy, with their name, emblem and uniforms differing depending on whether you choose to play Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet.

The Pokédex will be loaded on your Rotom Phone as an app, as well as a map app that will let you see the entire Paldea region, your current location and information like nearby towns, Pokémon Centers and wild Pokémon.

After their release, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will be able to link with Pokémon HOME, a service that allows you to keep your entire Pokémon collection in one place. By linking these games with Pokémon HOME, you will be able to have Pokémon from other regions adventure alongside them in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 18th November 2022.
