The Pokémon Company International has revealed the high-stakes Z-A Royale competition in Pokémon Legends Z-A, news that was shared in this week’s Nintendo Direct presentation.
After night falls in Lumiose City, a battle zone with red borders made from cutting-edge holographic technology will appear somewhere within the city. Trainers can compete in these battle zones from dusk until dawn as part of the Z-A Royale, a fierce competition in which participants start at Rank Z and must battle their way to become Rank A.
Only the strongest will claim the top rank, and it is said that those who reach Rank A may even have their wish granted. As you navigate the competition, you will encounter other competitors and friends – such as Urbain or Taunie – who will test your battling skills.
During the day, you will explore wild zones to catch and train your Pokémon in preparation for the battles you face at night. While the battle zone is active, your timing and strategy will be important, as landing surprise attacks can lend a critical advantage, whereas escaping higher-ranked opponents may be necessary.
Pokémon Legends Z-A will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide in late 2025.
