Avengers: Battle for Earth confirmed for Wii U

Ubisoft have confirmed the development of the recently rumoured Avengers: Battle for Earth, for Wii U and Kinect.

Set to release later this year, it’s currently being developed by the Ubisoft Quebec Studio and will focus on characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk and Thor battling an invasion of the genetically altered Skrull alien race.

Described as a “motion-control action game”, it be based on the “Secret Invasion” comic series rather than the recent blockbuster film, and will feature over 20 Marvel characters.

“The idea that we’re making a motion-control version of ‘The Avengers’ is a unique proposition if you compare that to superhero games of the past,” said Tony Key, Ubisoft’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

“This is the perfect type of game for that because these characters are very action oriented. They’re always fighting and throwing things.”
