Koei Tecmo and GUST have confirmed a release date for Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg, which is coming to Nintendo Switch.
This has seen the developer remake “the origin of the Atelier series,” which was first released for PlayStation and SEGA Saturn back in 1997 and has remained a Japanese-only release since.
You play as 19-year-old Marie in this carefree, cosy RPG adventure, who, after struggling at the Royal Academy of Magic and at risk of being expelled, is given access to an alchemy atelier by her teacher for her upcoming graduation exam. Challenged to produce something outstanding within five years that will satisfy her teacher, to succeed she must improve her alchemy skills, gather materials and earn money for the reference books and tools that she needs.
The development team has used “all-new graphics brighten the screen using modern techniques to bring Marie and her friends to life,” whether that be newly illustrated character and event stills or new 3D models of characters and stages along with cute chibi-style characters.
The tutorial and guidance of moving around town and collecting items have been expanded and modified in an effort to help the remake be “even more comfortable and easier to play,” with “improved mini-game controls and gameplay along with balance adjustments and enhanced comfort and presentation of both syntheses and battles.”
There are new additions too, such as Unlimited Mode where you can now take your time without the deadline of needing to graduate in five years, additional social events and Professor Ingrid’s Tasks, which act as a guide that can help point you in the direction of what to do next.
There will also be an Atelier Marie Remake: Alchemist of Salburg Digital Deluxe Edition, which will include the base game’s content and downloadable content along with the original Atelier Marie Plus content, extra BGM pack and the Another Look costume set.
Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 13th July 2023.
