Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom And The Guide of Memories Announced

Koei Tecmo and Gust have announced that Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom and the Guide of Memories is in development for Nintendo Switch 2.

“In Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom and the Guide of Memories, players will return to the continent of Aladiss, first introduced in Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Envisioned Land,” the publisher outlines in a press release.

“In this familiar land, players will set out on a journey centred on discovery and growth alongside amnesiac alchemist Karia. Working together with Servio Lektor, a heretic biologist from the pioneering team, and Fina Rozen, a talented fighter, Karia sets on a journey to explore Aladiss’ mysterious underworld to uncover its secret.

“Along the way, she gains the support of alchemist Yumia Liessfeldt and develops her talent for alchemy while seeking to recover her lost memories, reawaken the past, and savour the present.”

This latest entry in the Atelier series will be focused “on tying in alchemy to deepen every aspect of the game.”

Karia’s unique ability combines alchemy and eating, as, during your exploration, you can snack on the ingredients that you gather, which will provide you with various effects depending on the ingredients, like gaining animal ears when snacking on animal-based ingredients. You can also synthesise and eat meals that will change Karia’s appearance and grant her new abilities, unlocking useful skills for combat and exploration.

Using the alchemy cauldron found in the depths of Aladdiss’ underworld, you can create unique items thanks to a deep synthesis system that “blends strategy and creativity.” By connecting the mana pieces of the different ingredients selected, you can change the effects of the item synthesised, resulting in “an infinite number of possible variations and combinations.”

Synthesised items can also be used during exploration to let you reach new locations or find hidden treasures. Depending on the items used, you can solve challenges and even gather different ingredients. You can also use synthesised items while building to improve the efficiency of your bases.

Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom and the Guide of Memories will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide in early 2027.
