Microïds has announced that Asterix and Obelix XXL2 will release on Nintendo Switch, an action-adventure that stars the iconic French comic book characters.
The game was first released for PlayStation 2 and PC in June 2006 and saw Julius Caesar build a theme park called Las Vegum in his continued efforts to conquer Gaul. After Getafix swears loyalty to Caesar, Asterix and Obelix must come to his rescue.
It was packed with references to other series, with players encountering Roman spy Sam Shieffer (a play on Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell series) and other characters that resemble Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Crash Bandicoot, Rayman, Pac-Man, Ryu and Lara Croft.
You can choose between the Asterix and Obelix XXL2 Limited Edition that comes with a 5.2cm tall Asterix figurine, 7.4cm Obelix figurine and 4cm Dogmatix figurine, or the Asterix and Obelix XXL2 Collector Edition that will come with a 15cm tall resin Asterix figurine, exclusive prints and “additional content to be revealed soon.”
Asterix and Obelix XXL2 will release for Nintendo Switch worldwide on November 29th.
