Microids and OSome Studio have announced that Asterix and Obelix XXL Romastered is in development for Nintendo Switch.

This has seen the Atari-published GameCube action-adventure game be treated to a remaster, offering “up to date graphics,” an option to change between the original game and the remastered visuals, two new game modes, new gameplay, new camera and reworked animations.

After Asterix and Obelix return to their village after spending the day hunting boars, they find their village in flams and that their friends are missing.

The two heroes and their dog Idefix set out to rescue the missing villagers, presenting the chance for you to fight thousands of Romans as you explore the world journeying between Gaul, Egypt, Greece and Rome.

Asterix and Obelix XXL Romastered will release at retail and on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 22nd October 2020.
