Gameloft has confirmed a release date for Asphalt 9: Legends on Nintendo Switch, which is now available to pre-purchase on the Nintendo eShop.

The portable home console version has an exclusive BMW Z4 LCI E89 with a blue and red decal to unlock.

The game is free-to-download, and, while you can unlock all content without making an in-game purchase, the Asphalt 9: Legends Starting Racer Pack will be available to those that want a head start.

This unlocks incredible supercars and resources that will help to boost your progress as well as challenging friends and family in split-screen multiplayer right from the beginning.

It comes to Nintendo Switch with new local split-screen multiplayer and a brand new Quick Race mode, which is playable offline and online.

There are multiple control schemes that are supported, whether that be Joy-Con, the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, gyroscopic motion controls, touch screen controls, or Touchdrive – “a fresh approach to driving controls that adds a layer of strategic decision to the sheer fun of the ride.”

With 41 tracks to race on set around the world and nearly 60 super and hyper cars to drive such as the Bugatti Chiron, the McLaren P1 and the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio, Gameloft will continue to update the game with new content similar to that on PC and mobile.

And, then there’s also support for up to eight players racing in online play free-for-all – which will not require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Asphalt 9: Legends will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on October 8th.
