Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have confirmed that Apex Legends will no longer be playable on Nintendo Switch from 4 August 2026.
Until then, you can “continue to jump into the action, earn rewards, and enjoy matches per usual.” Your in-game premium currency will be carried over to Nintendo Switch 2 once the service ends, and your progress, purchases and earnings are tied to your EA account.
That means that everything that you have earned or purchased (including Apex Coins and cosmetics) can be transferred to Nintendo Switch 2 once you log in, even after 4 August 2026. You can check the FAQ for further answers to your questions.
“Season 29 will be the final update for Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch. Future seasons of Apex Legends will continue to be available on Nintendo Switch 2,” the developer explained in an update.
“Apex Legends will continue to be available on all other supported platforms. As we continue to evolve Apex Legend’s content and technical foundation, our goal is to deliver a high quality experience. Thanks to Nintendo’s investment in the Nintendo Switch 2, the platform offers a great handheld experience for Apex Legends.
“We are deeply grateful to the Nintendo community that has been with us on this journey since Day 1, and we hope to see you on the Dropship on Nintendo Switch 2.”
Pitched as “a character-driven, squad-based Battle Royale shooter where teamwork is the difference between victory and defeat,” in Apex Legends you must first choose your character from a lineup of outlaws, soldiers, misfits and misanthropes before being challenged to survive long enough to be called a Legend.
You will need to master your Legend’s abilities and work as a team to succeed in competitive 60-player matches, relying on Respawn Beacons to resurrect your teammates and Smart Comms to communicate with one another without the need for voice chat.
