The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has hinted that another adventure with Link could release on Nintendo Switch later in console’s lifecycle.

“I haven’t been able to fully use all of the new features of the system,” Aonuma admitted to IGN. “There could be the possibility of another Zelda on Nintendo Switch.”

When asked where the series could be taken next after Link’s expansive open-air adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, he jested: “It’s always easy to top the best!”

Aonuma went on to discuss what remained important to the series, and areas in which Nintendo could continue to explore.

“I think the core element of Zelda gameplay kind of stays the same,” he explained. “There’s the main character development as well as characters you meet along the way, and then you learn new things as the character develops. With that said I think we could keep all that, and then I do wonder how we can expand from here with that in mind.”

If anything, Nintendo creative Shigeru Miyamoto joked that if the company didn’t make another game in the Zelda series, then Aonuma would be out of a job.

“Mr. Aonuma is the producer for Zelda. If we don’t create another one, he’s going to be out of a job, that should be his motivation for another one,” Miyamoto added. “As a company, Nintendo releases a main series in our key franchises for every new hardware that we’ve put out. If we release another hardware, that’ll be another new Zelda.”

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release exclusively for Wii U and Nintendo Switch on March 3rd worldwide.
