Aggro Crab Games and iam8bit have teamed up to produce “adorably cheeky” Another Crab’s Treasure physical editions on Nintendo Switch.
These include the Another Crab’s Treasure Retail Edition ($34.99) and Another Crab’s Treasure iam8bit Exclusive Edition ($34.99), which include the game on a region-free cartridge and a 12-inch x 18-inch glossy fold-out poster featuring a clay art recreation of Kril posing valiantly with his signature fork. The iam8bit Exclusive Edition adds an exclusive o-sleeve boasting original clay artwork from cobcris.
With shipping to begin on 5 September 2025, those who pre-order will receive an official game soundtrack download code.
There is also the Another Crab’s Treasure 2xLP vinyl, which has been pressed on 100 percent recycled, carbon-neutral Random Eco Blend Color Vinyl and available in one of six randomly-selected shaders per disc. This will include a digital download code of the soundtrack.
The Another Crab’s Treasure tote bag is also made from eco-friendly 100 percent recycled materials. With patterned artwork by cobris, $1 from every sale will be donated to Sustainable Coastlines, a non-profit organisation that inspires communities to care for coastlines, with a bona fide certificate of donation to make things official.
Set in a crumbling underwater world that has become plagued by a mysterious curse and pollution, in Another Crab’s Treasure you play as a brave hermit crab called Kril, and must explore an undersea society that “has entered a period of garbage-fueled prosperity.”
That adventure will see you discover the dark forces of industry and the pollution placing it under threat. To succeed on your epic treasure hunt to buy back your repossessed shell, you must wear the trash around you as shells to withstand attacks from enemies that are many times your size.
The developer has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Trash or Treasure? In this undersea society, trash is not only a way of life, but a valuable resource, used for everything from fashion to firearms. But with the presence of trash comes a mysterious infection known as the Gunk, which could spell doom for the entire ocean.
- Learn From Nature: As Kril explores the ocean, he’ll gain a variety of Umami Techniques—powerful attacks learned from the denizens of the seas. Punch your enemies with the overwhelming might of a Mantis Shrimp, ensnare them with the horrifying Bobbit Worm, and much more.
- Unexplored Depths: The ocean goes deeper than one can imagine. Fight your way through kelp forests, coral reefs, sand castle cities, and even the unfathomable darkness of the deep-sea trenches, all in the name of getting back your prized shell.
- Play At Your Own Pace: Designed to be an approachable experience for newer soulslike players as well as provide a challenge for hardcore fans, Another Crab’s Treasure offers something for any level of skill or time commitment. Assist options are provided for those seeking a less frustrating experience, but gluttons for punishment are sure to find the default game a challenge.
