Animal Crossing: New Leaf has sold out nationwide across Japan, leading to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata taking to social media site Twitter to reassure consumers that more stock is on the way.

Iwata confirmed that an approximate 600,000 copies had been sold within the game’s first week at retail, with a further 200,000 digital retail purchases having also been made through the Nintendo eShop.

To ensure demand is steado;y met, a further 300,000 copies will be shipped to retailers this week.
