After a long and storied career, Isao Moro has revealed that he has now left Nintendo – having spent 17 years in different roles within the company.

After joining Nintendo in 2001, Moro became known for his close association with the Animal Crossing series, having worked in debug support, system director and sub-director roles for Animal Crossing e+ for GameCube, Animal Crossing: Wild World for Nintendo DS and Animal Crossing: City Folk for Wii.

He then went on to work on Animal Crossing: New Leaf for Nintendo 3DS as a co-director alongside Aya Kyogoku, and, most recently, has received a special thanks shoutout in the Splatoon 2 credits.

Naturally, like many, we wish him well in whatever he has planned next, and, somewhat selfishly, hope that he had the chance to help direct one last game before he left – namely Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch, whenever it releases.
