Animal Crossing New Horizons Donation Box: What Does It Do?

You can redeem the Nook Miles that you have accumulated to receive a Donation Box in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

This is a brand new item that has been introduced in the game’s somewhat monstrously-sized free 2.0.0 update, and can be ordered from the Nook Stop multimedia terminal in Resident Services.

You will need to redeem 800 Nook Miles to immediately receive the Donation Box DIY recipe, after which you can head to your nearest DIY table or workbench to craft a Donation Box. To create the item, you will need four Wood and four Softwood.

The Donation Box essentially acts as a quick way for you and other players to safely deposit Bells for the item’s owner to collect later, an easier way to donate your hard-earned money when visiting someone else’s island to reward them for their hard work and help contribute towards them continuing to develop their tropical paradise further.

You will want to place it in a convenient location – we’d recommend it be near to where players will arrive and depart from your island. The minimum donation that players can deposit is 1,000 Bells, but, again, everyone that visits your island will know that only you will be able to withdraw whatever is held in the Donation Box and that another player – or even Tom Nook – won’t be able to run off with an enormous bag of Bells.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
