Nintendo may share information regarding the Wii U’s release date and pricing during September.
Such an estimation was made by Vice President of Insights and Analysis for Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR), Jesse Divnich.
“I would expect Nintendo to make some form of an official announcement in September,” Divnich predicted to NowGamer. “Likely around, but not at, the Tokyo Game Show.”
“Nintendo didn’t release any information regarding pricing or unit expectations [at E3]. It is tough to pinpoint any type of expectation when Nintendo themselves are being incredibly vague about it.
“Considering the potential for PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 price cuts this holiday, it is understandable that they are keeping their cards close to the chest.”
Whereas Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter further added that forecasting Wii U sales isn’t possible until information is released.
“As soon as Nintendo tells us the specs, I’ll take a stab at the cost. As soon as they give us the price, I’ll guess unit sales,” Pachter explained. “People love to beat me up for bashing Nintendo, but they bring this on themselves. They give no information, and want us all to proclaim that their consoles will sell record numbers.”
