Wii U sales throughout the Christmas period have been deemed “disappointing” by an industry analyst.

Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia claims that the new console performed “below expectations” at key US retailer GameStop, within a message to investors.

Whilst stock shortages had been warned, Bhatia stated that consoles remained “abundant” and that software attach rates were “low.”

Bhatia concluded, “Our conclusion is the Nintendo Wii U launch has been slightly disappointing.”
