Nintendo has shared how amiibo have been integrated with Star Fox Guard, the strategic companion to Star Fox Zero.
While the Fox and Falco amiibo will respectively unlock a retro Arwing and Black Arwing in Star Fox Zero, when scanned in Star Fox Guard players can call on the Star Fox squad once per day to obliterate attacking robots with a powerful airstrike.
The Wii U exclusive will see you defend precious metal mining sites owned by Grippy Toad. To do so, you must switch between 12 surveillance camera feeds on the the TV screen to spot your relentless invaders and blast them.
Clearing missions will reward you with rare metals that will unlock new missions and cameras with special abilities, whether that be slowing down or freezing enemies. Whereas the My Squad
mode will let you create and upload enemy attack patterns to challenge other players or take on their efforts, while Star Strategist will present a popular challenge each day.
Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard will launch exclusively for Wii U in Japan on April 21st, and worldwide on April 22nd.
