Amazon opens Nintendo Digital Downloads Store

Amazon has launched a Nintendo Digital Downloads store, allowing customers to purchase digital games and add-on content across Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Wii.

Much of Nintendo’s existing catalogue is already available, with digital Super Mario Maker codes now open for pre-orders ahead of the Wii U exclusive’s launch next week. This is so far only available to those in North America, although could soon be rolled out worldwide.

The purchase process is simple, with customers adding their desired content to the basket after which they are guided to log into their Nintendo Network account where the download code will auto-populate.

The online retailer continues to reflect the industry’s shift toward digital purchases, with their digital distribution stores already encompassing Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita systems. Whereas PC, Mac and independent releases are also supported.
