Mega Evolution makes a return in Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! where select Pokémon can use a Mega Stone to unleash the power hidden within them.

The Mega Evolution mechanic was first introduced Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, and requires that two conditions are met before Mega Evolution can occur. First, Trainers must wear a special item called a Key Stone, while, secondly, their Pokémon must hold a specific Mega Stone for their species.

With only Pokémon that were originally discovered in the Kanto region appearing in Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee!, there are fewer Mega Stones to collect. And, while Blue will hand you the Key Stone in Pallet Town after you have beaten the Cinnabar Island Gym, you will buy most of the Mega Stones from a guy in Indigo Plateau for 30,000 Pokémon Dollars each.

And, once retrieved, it’s worth remembering that Mega Evolution can only be triggered once per battle, making it an important tactical decision as to choosing which Pokémon is powered up.
