Regista, YMCAT and Suzume Takanashi have confirmed a release date for their exploration-driven adventure game Alice in Wonder Underland AIWU on Nintendo Switch.
You play as Alice, who, after waking in a mysterious room, steps beyond a door to discover a world that feels both nostalgic and unknown. Her journey will take her through strange and interconnected environments that are crammed with curiosity, discovery and unexpected encounters.
For an unknown reason, Alice has lost her voice. She is not alone, meeting Noir Bunny early in her journey, who can understand her thoughts and support her throughout her adventure.
There are more than 30 themed areas, with the game emphasising freeform exploration to allow you to progress at your own pace while going off the beaten path to uncover secrets scattered throughout the world.
You can also collect outfits, which can be equipped as costumes to unlock new paths and expand where you can explore. The unusual objects that you retrieve are logged within an in-game encyclopedia, furnishings can be interacted with to customise your space, and there are puzzles, mini-games and events to distract you.
There is also a special Pocket Watch that you can use to return to earlier locations at any time, which the developer hopes will encourage experimentation and make exploration accessible without penalty.
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Explore 30+ uniquely themed areas
- Non-linear, curiosity-driven exploration
- Costume-based progression system
- Puzzles, mini-games, and interactive events
- Collectibles, encyclopedia system, and room customisation
- Companion character: Noir Bunny
Alice in Wonder Underland AIWU will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 23 April 2026.
