Fellow Traveller and Pikselnesia have confirmed a release date for Afterlove EP on Nintendo Switch.
Pitched as a “stirring narrative about love, loss and lyricism,” the game is “a mix tape of visual novel, rhythm game and narrative adventure.”
Set in Jakarta, Indonesia, it focuses on the young musician Rama who struggles to compose music after his girlfriend Cinta passes away. You will be challenged to complete an EP of music to fulfil the unfinished promise that was made to Cinta, with multiple endings to reach based on the choices that you make.
With the experience accompanied by an original soundtrack from Indonesian band L’alphalpha, the music has been created with Indonesian artist Soyatu behind the game’s distinctive manga-inspired art style.
The publisher has outlined the game’s features as below:
- Now He Has Just One Month To Get It Together: Rama’s band has a critical gig in one month’s time. Either he gets serious about his music and delivers the new songs he has been promising or the band will move on without him. Over twenty-eight days and nights it will be your choices that determine the path Rama takes. Explore the city, choose which relationships to repair and which new ones to pursue. Come to terms with the past, rediscover your creative voice and help Rama shape a future for himself.
- A Mix of Narrative, Adventure, Dating Sim and Rhythm Game: Discover modern day Jakarta through side-scrolling exploration, engage in deep and meaningful conversations with the characters of your choosing and jam with your band in rhythm game sections.
- Visit Indonesia: Part of the burgeoning Indonesian indie game development scene, Afterlove EP seeks to create an authentic window into modern urban life in Indonesia. Set in the streets of Jakarta where several of the developers live or have lived, the game also features the distinctive, manga-inspired art of renowned Indonesian artist Soyatu and an original soundtrack from Indonesian indie band L’Alphalpha.
Afterlove EP will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 14 February 2025.
