Nintendo has confirmed a new release date for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp on Nintendo Switch, shared in this week’s Nintendo Direct presentation.
The original Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising on Game Boy Advance have been “reimagined and rebuilt from the ground up” by developer WayForward, who have received “support and advice” from both Nintendo and Intelligent Systems.
In this strategic, turn-based game, you play as a tactical advisor for the Orange Star Army whose expertise is needed to command land, air and naval units across the battlefield.
When you’re struggling to defeat enemy squads or to capture towns and bases, you can use your powerful Commanding Officer (CO) Powers to help turn the tide of battle in your favour. Andy can repair units, whereas Sami can boost the abilities of troops. But be careful, as your opponents can use CO Powers as well.
Beyond the two campaign stories, up to four players can battle it out in Versus Mode. Each player will be able to choose a CO from either campaign, while you can customise battle scenarios through options such as funds per allied base or fog of war.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 21st April 2023.
