Nintendo has announced that Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp‘s release has been delayed into next year.

“Hello, troops! Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, which was set to launch on 12/3, will now release for Nintendo Switch in spring 2022,” Nintendo of America confirmed on Twitter. “The game just needs a little more time for fine-tuning. You’ll be battling with Andy & friends soon! Thanks for your patience.”

The original Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising on Game Boy Advance have been “reimagined and rebuilt from the ground up” by developer WayForward, who have received “support and advice” from both Nintendo and Intelligent Systems.

In this strategic, turn-based game, you play as a tactical advisor for the Orange Star Army whose expertise is needed to command land, air and naval units across the battlefield.

When you’re struggling to defeat enemy squads or to capture towns and bases, you can use your powerful Commanding Officer (CO) Powers to help turn the tide of battle in your favour. Andy can repair units, whereas Sami can boost the abilities of troops. But be careful, as your opponents can use CO Powers as well.

Beyond the two campaign stories, up to four players can battle it out in Versus Mode. Each player will be able to choose a CO from either campaign, while you can customise battle scenarios through options such as funds per allied base or fog of war.

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Spring 2022.
