Dotemu, Lizardcube, and Guard Crush Games have revealed that Adam Hunter will appear as a playable character in Streets of Rage 4 on Nintendo Switch.

He starred in the original Streets of Rage game, and will now thrash baddies beside his daughter Cherry and returning allies Axel and Blaze in the upcoming beat ’em up. That is once you unlock him in the Story mode.

Hunter has “versatile screen-clearing combos” as well as his special moves and dash ability, each unique to him from the rest of the game’s roster.

With hand-drawn visuals from the team behind Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, the co-developers have looked to build on the cult classic trilogy’s gameplay “with new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem.”

You can either clean up the city on your own or team up with a friend to beat up the gangsters, in what is promised to be “a skull-bashing, chicken-chomping delight all set to a thumping soundtrack sure to get your blood pumping.”

Streets of Rage 4 will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in the first half of 2020.
