Playtra has announced that Grid Fight is in development for Nintendo Switch.

Their first game for the portable home console has secured funding from ROKiT Games.

It is described as “a frenetic action/strategy game where the player defeats, recruits and evolves a cast of more than 30 all-female characters.”

The game’s set in a colourful world that takes inspiration from ’70s poster art and ’90s pop music.

“The whole proposition of ROKiT Games won us over from day one. They are an incredible business with a truly indie heart and the mission to create memorable games,” explains Playtra founder Dan Bernardo.

“The trust and support they offered us was just what we needed to turn our dream of creating the unique games that tell unique stories into reality”

ROKiT Games CEO Jeremie Benhamou adds: “Playtra is the kind of studio we want to support and partner with for the long term.

“They are not afraid to innovate, their solid team brings passion and dedication to each game they build, they want to make a real impact in the indie game scene. ROKiT Games will dedicate its resources, experience, and creativity to be part of their success.”

Grid Fight will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Summer 2020.
