Christmas Day brought an unexpected surprise for a family in Lakewood, 9News report.

Mark Giles was astonished when his five-year old son Braydon stumbled upon nine pornographic images on his Nintendo 3DS, having asked his older brother to help him to delete pictures currently on the handheld.

“He said that he didn’t take these pictures so I went over to these pictures and I see two people in a bed,” Bryton Giles explained. “I told my dad and I said dad this has porn on it and he got up and went right to the phone.”

GameStop apologised for the incident, with the store manager explaining that the images had been left on the refurbished device by its previous owner.

“GameStop is currently researching this situation,” a GameStop spokesperson commented. “We have a rigorous quality control process in place to ensure that existing content is removed from all devices before they are re-sold. Out of millions of transactions each year, ones like this happen very rarely. Our number one priority is to make this right for our customer.”

Along with their apology, the store gave the Giles family a new Nintendo 3DS along with several games. Yet, whilst Mark Giles appreciates the gesture, he believes that the damage has already been done.

“You can’t unsee this. He’s 5 years old, maybe when he’s 18 or 20 maybe he won’t know anything about it, but he’s not going to forget about this tomorrow.”
