Batterystaple Games have revealed that 30XX will release on Nintendo Switch.

This sequel to 20XX continues to take inspiration from classic Mega Man titles but has been “infused with modern design” to build upon the Megaroguelike foundation of the original game.

Developed with help from Kowloon Nights, the sequel has a new hi-bit art style from art director Glauber Kotaki (Rogue Legacy, Duelyst, and Chasm).

20XX heroes Nina and Ace return, now no longer wielding different primary weapons but possessing “entirely distinct move sets.”

Nina has a new Power Fusion system that allows her to “meld together abilities earned from vanquishing bosses and tailor them to the situation at hand with 64 separate attacks.” Whereas Ace has versatile Techniques that can be chained together with standard attacks to unleash fierce combos.

“The response to 20XX has been incredible, but we still see many ways we can continue to improve and expand upon the wonderful game our community helped us build,” explains Batterystaple Games founder Chris King.

“With 30XX, our mission is to realize the limitless potential the genre offers, and we can’t wait to bring our fans into the fold to help shape the process.”

30XX will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2021.
