2Awesome Studio has revealed that it was behind porting Othercide to Nintendo Switch, working in partnership with Focus Home Interactive and Lightbulb Crew.

“Bringing Othercide to Nintendo Switch was one of the biggest challenges for us as a studio. When Lightbulb Crew approached us about this possibility we weren’t sure if it was going to be possible,” explains 2Awesome Studio co-founder and lead developer Alejandro Santiago.

“Othercide has a unique colour scheme and visual style that requires the use of advanced volumetric lighting, fog effects, PBR reflections and even cloth and hair simulation. The challenge was not just bringing it to Switch but making sure it would be as faithful to the original vision as possible making it a great portable experience. I can say I am proud of the results of our team.”

Othercide is a horror-based tactical role-playing game set in a dark and mysterious universe in which you must prepare to confront Suffering and the Nightmare Creatures.

It comes to the portable home console alongside the game’s first free content update, which has added the Dream Mode that “will allow players to fully enjoy Othercide, campaign, story and lore with a more accessible challenge.”

In the game, you will join the Daughters, echoes of the greatest warrior to have ever lived. They are all that stand before Suffering and death, and you will be challenged to lead your army into battle with all the skill that you can muster.

Your success and failures will determine their fate, shaping their abilities and personality as you choose whether to sacrifice one to heal another with the survivors becoming ever-stronger for the next battle that they must face.

In battle, you will use the Dynamic Timeline System to outsmart your enemies, planning ahead of time to set up impressive chains of abilities to defeat your enemies. The boss battles will see you face the sources of Suffering, dreaded creatures that have been pulled from Humanity’s worst crimes that it has committed against itself.

Othercide is now available on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
