This week’s Nintendo Direct brought news as to how amiibo will be supported in Splatoon 2, with three new amiibo revealed for the Nintendo Switch exclusive.
Nintendo has shared that once scanned in-game the character will appear and befriend the player. This will let it remember your favourite weapons, gear, outfits and option settings, which has been introduced to help players quickly access their own loadout when playing at a friend’s house.
Your newfound Inkling amiibo friend may also reward you with special gear over time, and past Splatoon series amiibo will also be compatible – although what they unlock has not been detailed.
Splatoon 2 will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on July 21st, with the three new amiibo arriving alongside it.
