Nintendo Switch was revealed to the world last week, but one question that many have been left asking was whether or not the Nintendo Switch Console has a touchscreen.

After accurately revealing that the home gaming system was destined to be a portable console with detachable controllers, Eurogamer now report that the Console will boast a 6.2″ 720p 10-point multitouch display. This is a first for any Nintendo platform, and will ultimately mean that multi-finger gestures will be supported on the device.

The website cites sources that include those that had helped to unearth the Console’s design and detachable controllers earlier in the year and have since shared “other capabilities” that Nintendo hasn’t yet discussed.

One puzzle that we’re left with is how the touchscreen will work when the Console is placed in the Nintendo Switch Dock. Eurogamer suggests that the right-hand JoyCon controller contains a short-range IR sensor in its base, which, when pointed at the television screen, can easily replicate basic touchscreen functionality – picked up by an IR sensor in the Dock.

Nintendo Switch will release worldwide in March 2017.
