The Pokémon Company has announced that they will roll out an update for Pokémon Bank in January 2017.

This will make the application compatible with Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, allowing you to transfer Pokémon captured on your past adventures into the new Nintendo 3DS exclusives.

The update will add a new National Pokédex feature, that reads saved data from any compatible titles that you have connected to the service to display information about all the Pokémon you have caught. This can then be viewed in the application, and will even let you see Pokémon that don’t natively appear in the Alola region.

Players can also expect a Poké Transporter update in January, which will make Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Yellow on Virtual Console compatible with Pokémon Bank. Pokémon that players have caught in these games can then be transferred across into Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.
