Bethesda Undecided On Nintendo NX Support

With the Nintendo NX reveal expected soon, Bethesda remains hesitant as to whether they will support the new “dedicated game platform.”

The publisher’s release schedule over the year ahead includes Dishonored 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, BattleCry, The Elder Scrolls: Legends, Prey, and Quake Champions, although whether any of these will make it to Nintendo’s next-generation console appears undecided.

“We talk to Nintendo all the time – we’re pretty well briefed in on what they are doing,” Bethesda’s vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines explained to Finder at QuakeCon. “It’s definitely something we will look at; and our philosophy is that we will put our games out on any format that supports the games as we envisage and make them.

“If the NX fits that from a technical standpoint, and fits the game that a developer in our stable is making, I don’t see why we would not put it out on NX. But it’s too early to say, ‘We’ll definitely be putting games out or not.’ Like with mobile, we want to have the right fit for the right formats.”

Hines has been scornful of Nintendo in the past, once stating that the company hadn’t engaged with third-parties enough before the Wii U was revealed.

With Nintendo believed to be preparing Pokémon, Mario and Zelda for the console’s launch window, it has been reported that they have worked harder to secure third-party support, with SEGA, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Activision and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment all pledging to make games for the console.
