SEGA have confirmed that they will attend SXSW 2016, an event at which they will celebrate 25 years since Sonic the Hedgehog first saw release on the SEGA Genesis.

That will revolve around their Sonic the Hedgehog: 25 Year Anniversary panel, which will take place on Saturday 19th March between 3.30pm – 4.15pm in Ballroom C at the Austin Convention Center.

With Sonic social media manager Aaron Webber and SEGA product development director Austin Keys presenting, they will be joined by the blue blur’s creator Yuji Naka, Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka, and voice actors Mike Pollock and Roger Smith.

Promising to “take an in-depth look at his Sonic’s rich history across gaming, TV, merchandise and more,” it will celebrate the past while looking toward what the future holds.

So far, we know that Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice and Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will see release this year, with SEGA yet to share plans outside of that.
