Nintendo of America has announced that Fire Emblem Fates has sold more than 300,000 copies across all versions over the Nintendo 3DS exclusive’s launch weekend.

That sees it become the fastest-selling game in the franchise that have seen release in the United States, selling more than five times as many units as 2013’s Fire Emblem Awakening achieved in the three days that followed launch.

Nintendo shared that Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright saw the strongest sales between the two versions, outpacing the more challenging Fire Emblem: Conquest. Each promises their own unique story, characters, gameplay and plot twists, with Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation to release on March 10th.

“Both fans and critics are falling for Fire Emblem Fates, and the early sales numbers prove the game’s undeniable appeal,” comments Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “This strong momentum for Nintendo 3DS is only the beginning, as many more high-quality exclusive games are set to launch for the hand-held system over the next few months.”

Fire Emblem Fates is now available in North America and Japan, with a European release date still to be announced.
