NPD Group’s sales data for September is in, with Nintendo of America sharing that Super Mario Maker has sold under 445,000 physical and digital copies in the game’s first three weeks at retail.

That number allowed it to place sixth in NPD’s software chart as the only platform exclusive, outpacing Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition, Mad Max, NHL 16 and Minecraft. Sales have since surpassed more than 500,000 combined copies, tracked between 11th September – 19th October 2015.

That positive reaction had an impact on Wii U hardware sales, which saw an increase of nearly 110 percent in September across the United States in comparison to August.

Nintendo will now look to build on that momentum with Yoshi’s Woolly World, Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Devil’s Third.
