Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy Explorers will release in North America and Europe early next year.

The publisher has shared more on the story that drives the Nintendo 3DS exclusive RPG, which will see players find themselves in a world at war over its greatest power source – the Grand Crystal.

Focused on co-operative play, players will team up with other Explorers to venture out and collect Grand Crystal pieces that provide energy for the planet. The refined party system will allow you to master over 20 new and existing jobs such as Knight, Monk, Black Mage and White Mage, a careful balance needed to defeat the realm’s mightiest monsters.

Powerful eidolons like Ifrit and Bahamut may be summoned, while a Trance feature will let your party transform into legendary characters from the Final Fantasy series.

Final Fantasy Explorers will release exclusively for Nintendo 3DS in North America on January 26th, and in Europe on January 29th.
