Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice has today been revealed, which we’re hoping will help to dispel our soured memories of the train wreck that was Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.
The iconic blue blur’s super-fast speed and cool attitude return in this Nintendo 3DS exclusive, which comes as part of a new distribution agreement between Nintendo of Europe and SEGA of Europe. This will see Nintendo of Europe taking responsibility for sales, marketing and distribution in Europe, with SEGA of Europe remaining as publisher.
Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Sticks will reunite to battle Dr. Eggman, as well as squaring off against all-new super villain D-Fekt, with the game being developed by Sanzaru Games who last year delivered us Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal.
Promising “more adventure, speed, exploration and an all-new fire and ice gameplay element that will help propel the action,” those fire and ice elements will namely enable you to access special character moves and interact with environments. Players will also be able to “run through the game at top speed, or take their time with deeper exploration and puzzle play.”
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will launch exclusively for Nintendo 3DS in Europe and North America this winter.
