Today’s Nintendo Direct saw another welcome appearance by the joyously colourful shooter, Splatoon.

While reminding us about the Ranked Battle mode that was detailed last week, we also learned about the Wii U exclusive’s local 1-on-1 multiplayer mode, Battle Dojo. This will see one player using the Wii U GamePad while the other uses the TV screen, with both players competing to see who can pop the most balloons.

Nintendo have announced that they will release an Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy amiibo at launch, which, once scanned with the Wii U GamePad will see you receive missions that once completed will reward you with exclusive weapons and gear.

Splatoon will be available either standalone or, in Europe, as a special edition that includes a copy of the game and an Inkling Squid amiibo. Whereas those in North America can purchase a packaged bundle that contains all three amiibo figures.

Splatoon will be launch exclusively for Wii U in Europe and North America on May 29th.
