If you expected the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Special Demo Version to not contain any surprises, then sadly you were mistaken!

The Special Demo Version will become available in Europe and North America beginning tomorrow, although Japanese and Korean players have already gotten their hands on it. While introducing you to the widely anticipated remakes, it has now been revealed that players will be able to discover both Mega Steelix and Mega Glalie in the demo.

Mega Steelix remains a Steel and Ground-type Pokémon, sees its Defense stat greatly raised and has access to the Steel-type move, Iron Tail. This is particularly effective during a sandstorm, with the Sand Force Ability increasing the power of Rock, Ground and Steel-type moves by 30 percent during the weather condition’s duration.

Whereas Mega Glalie remains an Ice-type, with Mega Evolution increasing its Speed stat and more significantly raising Attack and Special Attack. It also gains the Refrigerate Ability, Refrigerate, which makes Normal-type moves become Ice-type moves, as well as having access to Ice-type move Sheer Cold which can instantly knock out a target.

You will also be able to choose whether to do battle with Sceptile, Blaziken, or Swampert, granting an opportunity to see their Mega Evolution’s in action. These Pokémon can also learn their ultimate moves, with details to be shared later as to how you can carry them, and collected items, into the full game.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire will release in Japan, Australia and North America on November 21st, and Europe on November 28th. For information about how to download the Special Demo Version, it’s recommended that you check the official Pokémon website.

  1. Mega steelix either looks rather cool……. or strnge. I dont even know what to think of mega glailie….. that mouth!! And guys i live in india, but have a N/A 3ds( since ther was no indian release) is there anyway i can get the demo?

  2. Mega steelix is awesome, and what’s even more awesome is that I already have a shiny steelix in my pokemon x, so transfering that steelix to this game and mega evolving it would be awesome!

  3. I was wondering how it would be possible to get Mega Steelix in North America, besides trading with someone from a different region, which is kinda risky?

    1. Hi Jason! If you catch an Onix in Granite Cave, you can then evolve it to Steelix. Then, if you continue to explore Granite Cave, you’ll also be able to find a Steelixite – allowing you to Mega Evolve. That’d save you having to trade! 🙂
