Boxing Day saw Nintendo choose to reveal another returning character set to battle it out in Super Smash Bros. next year.

Princess Zelda joins the roster of experienced combatants, having first made an appearance in GameCube’s Melee, later rejoining the arena in Wii’s Brawl. From screenshot’s released by Nintendo her move set seems largely similar to that seen previously, not that much is really given away.

The presence of a Phantom Guardian, which Zelda’s ethereal form could control in Spirit Tracks, appears to be a new support character, whilst it is unclear whether she retains her ability to transform into Ocarina of Time 3D’s Sheik.

It was only a fortnight ago that Nintendo revealed Rosalina and Luma as entirely new additions to Super Smash Bros. character roster.

Super Smash Bros. will release for Wii U and 3DS in 2014.
