As part of Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai’s daily updates for next year’s eagerly awaited Wii U and 3DS iterations, it has been revealed that Majora’s Mask’s Skull Kid will make an appearance.

Quick to disperse any immediate reaction from fans who may be lead to believe that he’s a playable addition, Sakurai reiterated that the troubled character is an Assist Trophy – items that summon Nintendo characters to aid whoever collects and throws them first.

“Here’s a new Assist Trophy – the Skull Kid! I repeat, it’s an Assist Trophy, not a new fighter,” Sakurai wrote in an accompanying message on Miiverse. “The characters announced on the website are the fighters!”

Super Smash Bros. will release for Wii U and 3DS in 2014.
