Nintendo’s relationship with EA takes a steady turn for the worse, as the key third-party publisher reveals that it has “no games in development” for Wii U.

“We have no games in development for the Wii U currently,” company spokesperson Jeff Brown confirmed to Kotaku, whilst not ruling out that their key franchises may eventually return to the platform.

It was back at E3 2011 that EA’s former CEO took to the stage to announce their “unprecedented partnership” with Nintendo, pledging to bring “great EA content” to the system.

Since launch, we’ve had Mass Effect 3: Special Edition, Madden NFL 13, FIFA 13, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted, but with disappointing Wii U sales, it can be predictably seen that sales of such software proved an equal disappointment for EA.

However, Brown explains that such titles show EA’s fulfilment of their promised commitment.
