After the success of 3D Super Hang-On and 3D Space Harrier, SEGA have now turned their attention to remastering their iconic blue mascot.

Sonic the Hedgehog will be re-envisioned in stereoscopic 3D, with adjustments being made to modernise the SEGA Mega Drive classic.

Plucked from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, players will be able to spin dash although there’s also the option to deactivate it if you prefer the original experience.

There’s also an option to switch between the Japanese and International versions, to alter sound emulation, and even setting the 3D graphics to either depth or zoom.

3D Sonic the Hedgehog will release across Japan through the Nintendo eShop on May 15th.
