Japanese news organisation Nikkei are reporting that Nintendo are planning to revive classic games from third-party publishers on Nintendo 3DS, forming part of their strategy to bring strong software releases to the handheld.

It further mentions virtual pet simulator Seaman, previously released on SEGA Dreamcast back in 1999, as an example of this, although didn’t continue to provide specifics.

The report additionally discussed the construction of Nintendo’s new development studio, which is scheduled to be opened at the end of December 2013. It’s being built upon a former golf practice ground, where Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto regularly ate at an Italian restaurant on the second floor of the facility.

It is speculated that it was here that the two finalised the concept for the Nintendo DS.
