Hi-Bit Studios has announced that 198X will release on Nintendo Switch this month.

198X portrays the journey of Kid, who is “a teenager stuck between the limitations of innocent youth and the obligations of inevitable adulthood.”

After discovering the local arcade, Kid finds new worlds and meaning through video games.

Every visit that he makes, every game that he uncovers, every move that he masters, and every demon that he defeats, Kid grows stronger. But then, the lines between game and reality start to blur…

“198X for Nintendo Switch gone gold!” the developer confirmed on Twitter.

“Thanks to the support from our friends at 8-4 in Tokyo the game will release worldwide on January 23, with optional subtitles in both English and Japanese. Thank you for the love in 201X – and see you all in 202X!”

198X will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 23rd January 2020.
