14.7 million amiibo have been sold worldwide

Nintendo had described amiibo sales as “favourable” when they shared that they had made £42.9 million profit in their first fiscal quarter, but we were left in the dark as to precisely how many had been sold.

Bloomberg reports that Nintendo sold an additional 4.2 million amiibo between May to June, which brings total sales to 14.7 million worldwide since the character figures were launched in late November.

Nintendo last shared that they had sold 10.5 million amiibo up until May, and have worked had to “scale up” the manufacturing process to meet consumer demand.
